In every highly successful and dynamic business, a hardworking group of dedicated individuals come together as a team to create success. However, amidst the day-to-day demands of work, the essence and true spirit of such an exceptional team can sometimes be overlooked. What sets Edafio apart is the outstanding associates, each bringing a diverse range of skills and presence to the organization, contributing to its uniqueness and success. Through our associate spotlight interviews, we have the privilege of sharing their remarkable professional achievements, and the meaningful stories, that have shaped their lives. We take pride at Edafio in illuminating the incredible uniqueness of our fellow associates. Our hope is that, just as we were inspired during the process of gathering their stories, you too will find a source of inspiration in our Associate Spotlights. Today we are delighted to recognize Jarrett Hoover, an invaluable and exceptional asset to the Edafio Team, as our esteemed September Associate Spotlights. Let’s take this opportunity to get to know Jarrett a little better!
What initially attracted you to join Edafio, and how has your experience been so far?
I first started working at Edafio as a summer intern in 2019. The initial attraction was that Edafio was one of the few local companies that offered an internship in cybersecurity. When I later graduated college in 2022, the attraction to come back to Edafio was based on how great of an experience my internship had been, and my interest in cybersecurity had continued. I’ve been a full-time employee a little over a year now, and I’ve loved working on the cybersecurity team. The work is unique and exciting, and I’ve learned so much in a short time.
What motivates and inspires you in your work?
Work in the cybersecurity field is easy to get motivated to do because the benefit to others is always guaranteed. Knowing that my work is contributing to client success by keeping them safe and secure gives me great comfort.
Are there any hobbies or special talents that you enjoy outside of work?
Outside of work my hobbies vary by season. In the summers I enjoy golfing, going to the lake, and anything outdoors. Most other times of the year I enjoy Razorback athletics, whether that be football, basketball, or baseball. I attended the University of Arkansas and my enjoyment in watching games has continued now that I live in Fayetteville full time.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I would love to go to Italy. I studied abroad there in college and would jump at the first chance to go back. It was an amazing experience and visiting again with family or friends is on my bucket list.
Are there any causes or charities that you are passionate about? Why are they important to you?
I was very involved with the Huntsman Cancer Foundation in college. Like many people, I’ve lost close family to cancer, and it’s an easy cause to get behind.
How do you approach work-life balance and manage your time effectively?
I’ve always been organized and am always making sure my to-do list, calendar, and tickets are up to date. Accuracy in those things allows me to prioritize work and make sure I’m completing tasks on time with no after-hours work necessary. This strategy has given me a great balance so far.
What’s one skill or knowledge area that you’re currently working on improving?
Incident Response
If you could give one piece of advice to new hires at Edafio, what would it be?
One thing that’s helped me so far is to always be learning. In our industry, there is always a certification to go after or a topic to research. You can always be making yourself better at what you do.
What’s your favorite thing about the culture and environment at Edafio?
There are many great attributes of Edafio’s culture. Our core value of One Team has been a favorite of mine, especially as a young professional who is constantly learning and needs some assistance occasionally. I also enjoy our remote work flexibility.
“Jarrett has been a wonderful addition to Edafio’s cybersecurity team from the start of his internship all the way to coming on full time in 2022. He is always learning and growing to improve his cybersecurity skills and embodies being a team player. We are so excited to be at the beginning of a promising future in cybersecurity.”
