We are thrilled to pay tribute today to Jeff Gable, one of Edafio’s esteemed Systems Engineer and an associate spotlight for August.
The comings and goings of staff are a part of every dynamic organization; therefore, it can be challenging to get to know our coworkers better as people, especially during a time of social distancing. We have to be mindful that our company culture thrives on our exceptional people as much as their outstanding technical skills!
As such, we are finding that our periodic interviews with associates allow us to acknowledge and celebrate the beautiful life stories, amazing professional accomplishments, and even the little quirks that make us uniquely beautiful human beings.
We hope you find each Edafio associate story as inspiring as we do in gathering and sharing them.
Jeff exemplifies all of Edafio’s core values, but I will always appreciate his commitment to our clients the most. Jeff is always putting his client’s needs first. He goes after problems until they are fully solved, and then he helps everyone involved improve. He sets a high bar as a family man, co-worker, and friend.
Trevor Bates, Team Lead
Hi Jeff, will you tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Jeff Gable. I am a Systems Engineer here at Edafio Technology Partners, and I have been working here for the 16 years. I am happily married to my wife, Kim, and we have three grown kids, Blake, Winn, and Morgan. I attended the University of Central Arkansas on a football scholarship and studied Geography and Meteorology while there. While playing football there, we enjoyed tremendous success; I was fortunate to play on 2 NAIA National Championship and 4 AIC Conference Championship football teams.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy being outdoors and hanging out with my family and friends out on our back deck. As far as my hobbies and activities, I enjoy playing Golf, both competitively and with my buddies. I enjoy Bowhunting, Bass Fishing, and working around my yard and playing with our dog Kodak.
What drew you to this profession?
Well, I became intrigued by computers and networking while in college. I later found that I enjoyed working on them and learning about them. The more I learned about them, I began to see how prevalent computer technology would become in the business world, and so I felt that this would always be a viable profession. So, I set my sights on obtaining my MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) certification from Microsoft.
That, along with the fact I enjoy helping people, and since most everyone uses computers and the technology surrounding them to work and play, it has certainly provided the opportunity to help people. The satisfaction of helping someone overcome an issue with their system so they can complete their work and meet a deadline gives you the feeling that you saved the day, and in many cases, you do. It is always a great feeling when you have helped someone!
What do you like to do in your free time?
Play golf… yes, I am addicted… I would play it just about every day if I could.
What would be impossible for you to give up?
My belief in God!
What would you do if you had no fear? Glide down a mountain in a Wing suit!
The satisfaction of helping someone overcome an issue with their system so they can complete their work and meet a deadline gives you the feeling that you saved the day, and in many cases, you do. It is always a great feeling when you have helped someone!
Jeff Gable
If you could spend one day with anyone in the world, who would it be?
My answer will be a shocker to most who know me, but I would pick Condoleezza Rice. I have a tremendous amount of respect for her! She is one of the most intelligent down to earth people that I have ever heard speak. Her vast array of knowledge across so many topics is simply amazing. What sets her apart is her level of knowledge and understanding of each of them. On top of all of that, she carries herself with such poise, dignity, and respect. She would make such a great president!
If I had one core message for the world, what would it be?
Be Kind to one another!
Who or what inspires you?
Seeing the good come out in people!
The quarantine can be a time of learning, self-reflection, and personal discovery. That said, is there anything you would like to share that COVID-19 and this quarantine has taught you?
Our world is a tiny place! We are all truly connected in one giant macro system, and nothing should be taken for granted.
Everyone at Edafio has a story about why they joined the team. What’s yours?
I was kind of at a crossroads at the time I came to interview at Edafio Technology Partners. I knew this was the profession I wanted to be in, but I focused on what would be the best choice for my future growth. Whether to join a large established corporation with all the great benefits but where yearly layoffs, long hours, and stagnate pay had become the norm versus a smaller growing company seemed to be the looming question. I spoke with people experienced in both sides of this debate so that I would have as many facts as possible. The day before I went in for my last interview at Edafio Technology Partners, I received a request for a follow-up interview at one of the large companies. However, after my final Edafio meeting, I came away extremely impressed with the people and the outsourced IT model’s vision. I canceled my other interview and accepted a Systems Engineer position at Edafio because I wanted to be a part of a growing organization with an opportunity for professional advancement and become a better, more rounded engineer. I certainly made the right choice! I have never worked with a more talented and professional team that genuinely cares about our client’s success. Over the years, our leadership has instilled an incredible culture of humility and respect, which is an integral part of our core values. We have some of the most talented engineers and IT staff in the south, and I consider it quite an honor to be working along beside them!
Edafio is always looking for exceptional candidates to join our team. For an opportunity to work with folks like Jeff, be sure to visit our careers page to learn more.
