We are thrilled to pay tribute to Michael Carpenter one of our August Associate Spotlight and esteemed Sr. Network Operations Center Engineer.

The comings and goings of staff are a part of every dynamic organization; therefore, it can be challenging to get to know our coworkers better as people, especially in a time of social distancing. We have to be mindful that our company culture thrives on our exceptional people as much as their outstanding technical skills. As such, we are finding that our periodic interviews with associates allow us to acknowledge and celebrate the beautiful life stories, extraordinary professional accomplishments, and even the little quirks that make us uniquely beautiful human beings.

We hope you find each Edafio associate story as inspiring as we do in gathering and sharing them.

Meet and get to know Michael by watching the video interview here:

How long have you worked at Edafio, and what does your job entail?

I have been at Edafio for nine years and next June I will celebrate my ten anniversary. My title is Sr. NOC engineer. It is tough to put into words what I do because I am involved in various projects with many of the teams at Edafio. But essentially, I enjoy helping solve IT issues, implement multiple solutions for our clients’ various systems as well as support the internal tech at Edafio.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?

Problem-solving. I enjoy resolving issues and finding solutions to our client’s IT frustrations. I like to fix things and connect with our clients with patience and understanding.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO WHEN YOU AREN’T WORKING?

I enjoy playing the guitar and woodworking. I build furniture and woodcarving. I recently made a dining room table for my house. I built it from scratch from a few Pecan trees that fell at my wife’s grandparent’s property. Now I am working on our library. I also made some cutting boards from the same trees to give my wife’s family as gifts.

IF YOU COULD MEET ANYONE IN THE WORLD, DEAD OR ALIVE, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

Eddie Van Halen. He is my favorite musician, who I believe to be a musical prodigy.

What is your favorite place to go in the world?

That is a great question. I am very much a homebody. I like spending time with my wife, so wherever she is. Otherwise, I like spending my time at home. I also enjoy going to Hibernia Irish Tavern. Jerry, the bartender, can pour a nice Guinness.

What three words best describe you?

My first response would be I-don’t-know, but if I had to name three words, they would be patient, funny and kind.

Michael is the wizard behind the curtain. There is so much that Michael does for our Team and our Company that no one sees or even knows about. We wouldn’t have had a chance to implement the things we have with the NOC Team without him. Michael takes great care of our clients and even better care of our Team. We could not be successful without everything that Michael does.

Derek Lewis, NOC Team Lead

What is one thing you can’t live without?

Michael Carpenter, Sr. Network Operation Center Engineer for Edafio

I can’t live without my wife and a guitar.

Do you have a mentor?

That is a great question. I am glad you asked. There are a few people I consider my mentors and they are Trey Sapp, Neil Fendley and Derek Lewis. They have each taught me a lot, personally and professionally, I am a much better person through their advice, guidance and support. Want to know why? Watch the video.

EVERYONE AT EDAFIO HAS A STORY ABOUT WHY THEY JOINED THE TEAM. WHAT’S YOURS?

I was working a night shift for one of our clients, where Neil was the primary engineer. Neil and how well he handled working with our client and me. He was a big part of why I wanted to come work for Edafio. Having worked with him the few times I did, I appreciated how he worked and what he was doing for the company I was working for. I thought what he was doing was interesting. He was helpful enough to get me an interview with Keith and then Kendall. After that, they hired me for some reason unknown and for that, I am grateful for Neil and where I am today.

Edafio is always looking for exceptional candidates to join our team. For an opportunity to work with folks like Michael, be sure to visit our careers page to learn more.
