We are thrilled to pay tribute to our June Associate Spotlight, Amanda McClure. A systems engineer and published author about Zebrafish, she has an insatiable desire for learning and sharing knowledge.
The comings and goings of staff are a part of every dynamic organization; therefore, it can be challenging to get to know our coworkers better as people. We have to be mindful that our company culture thrives on our exceptional people and their outstanding technical skills. As such, we are finding that our periodic interviews with associates allow us to acknowledge and celebrate the beautiful life stories, extraordinary professional accomplishments, and even the little quirks that make us uniquely beautiful human beings.
We hope you find each Edafio associate story as inspiring as we do in gathering and sharing them.
How long have you worked at Edafio, and what does your job entail?
I have worked at Edafio for about a year and a half now. My job requires me to know a little bit about everything IT-related. As a systems engineer, you get the opportunity to work with just about every aspect of IT so it’s a great position to be in for growth as an IT professional. I get to solve systems, software, hardware and networking problems daily.
What do you like most about your job?
I love that I am getting exposed to so many different types of client environments. There is so much potential here to learn all you could want to know! Plus the fact that there are people (Ryan Brown) here that are committed to helping you get to where you want to be is amazing.
What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?
Be confident in your knowledge and your skill set. Be confident in your decision-making and stop second-guessing yourself.
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
When I’m not working I enjoy working out at a local CrossFit gym. I really enjoy throwing heavy weights around. And going to parks and museums with my daughter, Phoenix.
What’s a fun fact about you that many people may not know?
A fun fact about me is I’m a published author of a book about the neurobehavioral protocols of zebrafish
Also, I can walk on my hands. That fact is a little more fun.
Everyone at Edafio has a story about why they joined the team. What’s yours?
I learned about Edafio from a career fair that I attended in Fayetteville, AR. I actually spent a while talking with Keith Woodruff about cyber security and it’s importance. I could tell he had a passion for helping people I knew I wanted to be involved in the cyber security team at Edafio but I had to get hired first. Then about a month later, Amy Beam messaged me from a job site that I had my resume on and asked me to submit a resume. She set up an interview and I got hired! I am not on the cyber security team yet but I. Will. Be!
Edafio is always looking for exceptional candidates to join our team. For an opportunity to work with folks like Amanda, visit our careers page to learn more.
